'Mixed Works' Exhibition at Franks Cafe Bar
Richard will be holding an exhibition of photography, electronic doodles and sculpture at Frank Cafe Bar from 2nd March to 5th April 2010.
Richards architectural photography has taken him too many locations around the world but it is places closer to home that forms the majority of the images on display. Included are a series of photographs of Shrewsbury’s Theatre Severn which gives the observer a different way of viewing the building using Richard’s graphic abstract architectural style.
One of this series was selected along with eight other images to be used in a forthcoming Hollywood movie called ‘Inception’. The images are being used in a hotel scene in the movie which is directed by Christopher Nolan, stars Leonardo DiCaprio and is due for release in the summer of this year.
Richard studied photography at HNC level and set up his own photography business called Footprint Photography which specialises in architectural, commercial, press and PR, music and fine art photography. This is the third year he has been going and has had commissions from Harper Adams University College, Aedas Architects and Shrewsbury Bakehouse. His art work has been exhibited previously at The Brighton Photo Fringe, Photomonth East London, Lighthouse in Wolverhampton and The Hive in Shrewsbury.
Other photographic work on show will includes The Cold War Exhibition at the RAF Museum Cosford and the Swan Bells in Perth Australia.
As well as photography Richard is also displaying two electronic doodles which have been created using computers inspired by hand drawn doodles drawn for last year’s Doodlefest at the Hive Music and Media Centre in Shrewsbury plus another work previously exhibited at the Hive, a framed sculpture made using old model aircraft entitled ‘Boyhood Dreams’.
There is a guest appearance of work by fine art graduate Jessicah Kendrick who has created mixed media pieces inspired by Richard’s photography. Jessicah uses a mixture of paint, embroidery and collage to create stylised impressions of a place.
